News & Announcements

January 14, 2022

Church Ministry Update
MBCLA remains open for in-person worship services, but we urge members to keep yourselves and others safe by actively monitoring your health. We are concerned by the high number of cases and desire both spiritual and physical health. We continue to require masks indoors and recommend medical quality masks, which we will provide to those who do not have one.

We ask that you join us online rather than in person if you:

  • Have had COVID-19 symptoms within the last 10 days,
  • Have an elevated body temperature, or
  • Are currently subject to a Health Officer Isolation or Quarantine Order.

If you have a positive test result and were recently at the church, please email info@mbcla.org so that we may follow-up.

Free COVID-19 Testing (Tue, Jan 18)
MBCLA will be partnering with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Community Advisory and the Testing Co to host a free COVID-19 testing site. It is open to the community and no appointments needed.

  • Date & Time: Tue, Jan 18, 8am-4pm
  • Location: 124 N 1st St (MBCLA 1st St Parking Lot)
  • Contact: Minister Justin Chang (JustinChang@mbcla.org)

Children’s Ministry
Children’s Sunday classes will continue to meet online only at 11am for the remainder of January.

English Youth Sunday School
Grade 9 is hybrid (G-103 & Zoom); Grades 7/8, 10 , 11, and 12 are online (Zoom) through January. Contact Minister Robert (robert.chan@mbcla.org) for links.

English Adult Sunday School

  • The Men’s Class and the Women’s Class now start at 10:45am.
  • All adult classes will have hybrid meetings (in-person & Zoom options) until the end of the quarter.

Friday Night Fellowships
In light of health conditions, children’s and youth fellowships are postponing their re-opening (Mission Friends, K.F.C., B.A.S.I.C.). B.A.S.I.C. and Total Devotion will meet online in January and we encourage other Friday fellowships to meet online as well until conditions improve.

Baptist Voice Children’s Choir (BVCC)
Due to the resurgence of the pandemic, BVCC has decided to temporarily switch to Zoom rehearsals from the first rehearsal on Jan 23 until the end of February. The mode of delivery (online or hybrid) from March on will be determined later. Spring semester tuition: $140/student (early bird tuition extended to 1/31: $125). Siblings: $10 discount. For questions, contact our director, Ms. Joyce Shen (joyce9588768@gmail.com). Registration: music-worship.mbcla.org/en-music-worship/childrens-choir.

January Meeting of Members (Sun, Jan 23)
Please join us in-person for a Meeting of Members on Sun, Jan 23 following worship service for the purpose of calling Minister Brian Tung as English Minister of Equipping and Fellowship. Please review the bulletin insert, which is also available during the week from the church office. There will be an online info session on Wed, Jan 19 at 8:15pm at the following link: http://bit.ly/MBCLAJanMeeting.

TLT Open Forum (Sun, Jan 30)
On Sun, Jan 30, the Transitional Leadership Team (TLT) will host an open forum from 10:15-11am in G-109/110. This will be an opportunity for the congregation to hear updates, ask questions, share concerns, propose ideas, and dialogue with the TLT. You may send questions ahead of time by emailing robert.chan@mbcla.org.

Condolences
Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mrs. Chung Yu Tseng (Mandarin congregation), who went home to be with the Lord on Jan 3 at the age of 107.

Midweek Prayer Meeting

Join our weekly Zoom prayer meeting, Wednesdays, 7-8pm. Email mbclaprayer@yahoo.com for the link, to subscribe to the weekly prayer bulletin, or to send requests for the prayer bulletin. We encourage you to commune with the Lord and remember the needs of the church, community, and world through prayer at home.

Women’s Prayer Meeting

We will be using the book of Ephesians to explore the identity of the church, learn about God’s heart for us as His body, and how to put on the armor of God. Come and pray with us every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, at 8pm over Zoom. Contact Chen Heinrich (chen.he.heinrich@gmail.com) to join this new Jan-Jun mailing list.
