2020-2021 Meetings of Members
MBCLA has scheduled a Meeting of Members following worship services on Sunday, August 15 and Sunday, September 26. Please see the digital insert for more information.

Leaders Needed for College Fellowship
There is a need for additional leaders to support the Livingstones college fellowship. Pray for the Lord to call adults who desire to walk alongside, mentor, and support college students as they face opportunities and challenges to cultivate a robust, personal faith as young adults. For more information, contact Kris Tu at livingstones.mbcla@gmail.com.

Imprint Special Needs Sunday School
Looking for an opportunity to serve the church body on Sundays? Imprint Ministry is holding in-person special needs Sunday school class from 10:15-11:00am in MC-131. Volunteers are needed to help students engage with the activities and Bible lessons. Additionally, Worship Service helpers will be needed when there is a full return to ministries in September. Contact Christine Gaw (christine.gaw@gmail.com) for more information.

Items Available for Members
The church has a limited number of items available for members to freely pick-up. In the Woodward lobby next to the stained glass there are boxes with surplus items, such as backpacks from back-to-school, toys from harvest festival, and 50th anniversary gifts. You are welcome to them for yourself or your neighbors. What remains in August will be donated.

Children’s Ministry Re-opening

In order to comply with social distancing guidelines, the Children’s Ministry will tentatively re-open in phases starting on June 6. All summer classes will only be held at the 9:00am Children’s Worship hour.

Our Tentative re-opening schedule:

June 6 and 13         4th – 6th grade only
June 20 and 27       1st – 6th grade
July & August         Kindergarten and Preschool 3 and above

For RSVP, please visit https://mbcla.org/children/

Child Dedication

We want to prepare for our next child dedication by first receiving feedback. With a variety of comfort levels toward reopening, we need to hear directly from those who may be interested so that we can make proper accommodations. Please contact Minister Robert (robert.chan@mbcla.org) to express your interest and provide input as preparations begin.

Sunday Schools: June-August / College and Adults

This week, the “Reaching Our Community” Sunday school class is also switching to hybrid instruction. The class will be held in person at the Main Campus, room 311 (upstairs, near the choir room). With restrictions easing, entry and sign-in for both classes will be amended. Please enter the main campus from the Woodward entrance and proceed upstairs, around the sanctuary, to the classroom, where you’ll sign in at the door.

Our two 10:30am Sunday school classes are:

Reaching Your Community (Brent Davis)

The goal of this course is to help you reach your community, your friends and the people living around our church. Topics will focus on prayer, evangelism and discipling. Going out and interacting with your community (after training) is a requirement. There will be opportunities for discussion and sharing of experiences as well as practice sessions. Approximately, every fourth Sunday will be a bye.

The Book of Hebrews (James Daily)

Underlying the admonitions, exhortations, and descriptions and calls to faith the writer of the Hebrews presents to his readers, there are the many comparisons of the Lord Jesus Christ and His superiority to various earthy characters and their functions in the plan of God. It is truly about Him and how we should respond to Him.

The book of Hebrews also presents some puzzling verses that challenge our understanding of salvation and assurance. An understanding of the message of Hebrews will greatly enhance your Christian life, and over the summer, we will study and discuss the meaning and purpose of the book as well as its message to us today.

Youth Summer Sunday School
We have two youth (7th-12th grade) Sunday School electives on Zoom for July-August. Join through the links below:

Youth Firm Foundations (Calvin Tong)
Zoom Link: bit.ly/MBCLAYouthFoundationsSS
Time: Sundays beginning on July 11 @ 11:00am
Youth Firm Foundations is a fundamentals of the faith course or a Christianity 101 class. In it, we will explore truths such as the attributes of God, the necessity for faith, the significance of baptism, and more. Bring your questions and your bibles because you will find that God has a lot to say regarding His character and His plan for your life!

Worship: More Than a Song (Brian Chiu)
Zoom Link: bit.ly/MBCLAYouthWorshipSS
Time: Sundays beginning on July 18 @ 11:00am

When we think of “worship” we often think of singing or going to church. However, God commands us to worship Him with every part of our lives. We worship God by loving Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Many of us know this already but find it difficult or a struggle to worship God. In fact, it is often far easier to worship other things like grades, friendships, fun, or even ourselves. The truth is, those things will never bring us true or permanent satisfaction, and learning to redirect our affections frees us to enjoy or pursue those things appropriately. Join us as we learn about worship and why worshiping God can bring us far greater joy, peace, comfort, security, and satisfaction than anything else.

Women’s Prayer Group

Our Women’s Prayer Group will be meeting every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month, 8-9pm, beginning in June (will last until the end of the year).

Have you ever wanted to pray more according to God’s will? Praying God’s word is one of the best ways to do that; it is also the best way to receive God’s promises and commands for your life more fully into your heart.

Come join us to pray through the book of James, and let the Holy Spirit be your teacher and disciple you through prayers. Please contact Chen Heinrich (chen.he.heinrich@gmail.com) to be added to the mailing list.

New to MBCLA

If you are new to MBCLA, finding our church through our online worship services, contact Deacon Buck Chng (bucktwocc@gmail.com) for more information and to get connected.
